New Entrance for Library

The library will get a face lift beginning Wednesday, November 5th. The current entrance will be demolished and a new entrance will be constructed in its place. We will be open during regular business hours throughout construction.

The door to the north of the main entrance(to your right when looking at the building)will be the temporary entrance. This door does not have an automatic opener, so if you need assistance opening the door, please ring the bell and a staff member will come to help.

*The handicapped parking spaces will be temporarily relocated to the spaces in front of the cement wall.

*We will not have a bike rack during construction. Bicycles can be parked and locked in the garden area by Youth Services on the State Street side of the building.

*The book drop will be unavailable during construction. All materials need to be brought into the building and dropped off at the Youth Services desk or the Circulation desk on the second floor. We realize that this may be an inconvenience when you are in a hurry so we are giving everyone a three day grace period throughout the construction process.

This new entrance will address several problems that we have with the current vestibule. The woodwork is rotting and needs to be replaced, the hardware does not lock properly, and the airflow through the narrow entrance brings a great deal of cold air into the building during the winter.

The entrance will be constructed of steel and glass, with new hardware on the doors, and the longer walkway that will prevent cold air from coming into the building.

This will save money on heating and cooling costs. The book drops will be under cover and this will help ensure that materials returned in the drops stay dry even on the snowiest and rainiest of days.
